The Hawaii Society of Orthodontists
(HSO) held an in-person
continuing education meeting
sponsored by American Orthodontics
at 3660 on the Rise in Honolulu, Hawaii, on
August 27, 2021. Dr. Troy Christensen provided a
lecture on " The Efficiencies of Self-Ligation, " and
16 members were in attendance.
In 2021, the HSO Executive Board has updated the
HSO Bylaws, Strategic Plan, and Policy and Procedures
Manual. The modified HSO Bylaws will be
presented to members for approval at our annual
business meeting, scheduled for October 7, 2021.
We encourage all HSO members to consider joining
the board or increasing their involvement in our

Idaho
The Idaho State Orthodontic
Society held its annual meeting in
Boise. Bylaws were adopted and
officers were elected. Dr Anthony
Mongillo was elected as president and Dr. Laura
Lineberry was elected as vice president.

Thank you all very much for all of
your participation in the newly
adopted bylaws. It has been a long
time coming! We will be hosting
a virtual meeting this fall to elect new officers. We
hope everyone is doing well and will join the PCSO in
Las Vegas for the WOCON Spring Session, featuring
the Ritz-Carlton Leadership Center in March 2022.

The third quarter was quiet for the
Oregon State Society of Orthodontists
(OSSO). Members were hard
at work in their practices for the
busy summer season. Now that summer is coming
to a close, the OSSO is planning their annual
meeting to be held in December. Unfortunately,
with the rise of COVID-19 infections, the OSSO has
decided to hold its annual meeting virtually again
this year. Nonetheless, we look forward to providing
great continuing education to our members
and a chance to connect with one another. Also,
we are starting work on a much needed update
to our component website. We are grateful to the
PCSO for supporting us with the grant initiative.
The OSSO would like to extend an invitation to
members, new and old, to contact the board if
interested in serving for the 2021 calendar year.

Saskatchewan
With the official removal of all
COVID-19 restrictions by the government
of Saskatchewan on July
11, 2021, the summer has brought
a welcome resurgence of many family activities.
Despite the removal of restrictions by the government,
the College of Dental Surgeons of Saskatchewan
has maintained (even if in a reduced
capacity) several COVID-19 precautions that are
required of each dental clinic. There has been no
vaccination mandate for dental professionals
yet, even though there have been several calls
for mandatory vaccinations made by physician
counterparts in the province. The Saskatchewan
Society of Orthodontists is currently discussing
whether an in-person or virtual meeting will be
held this year, with the meeting likely to occur
later this fall.
