Bias in the superimposition of lateral cephalograms in adult patients with anterior open bite
Abstract
Anterior openbite (AOB) may be corrected orthodontically
by molar intrusion, incisor extrusion, or a
combination. These movements are often investigated
using cephalometric superimpositions (SI), which
may be influenced by investigator bias. This study
evaluated bias associated with SI in 30 AOB patients,
ten of each treated with fixed appliances (FA), aligners
(A), or FA with TADs (TAD). 12 raters performed
blinded digital SI of the 30 patients at 3 sessions, at
least one month apart. At each session, they were told
all 30 patients were treated with either FA, A, or TAD.
Change in mandibular plane (MP) was the primary
outcome. Significant intra- and inter-rater variability
was observed at all 3 sessions. Indicating that practitioners
might create SI from the same patient's cephs
to show different mechanisms of bite closure.

It was such a great experience getting to share my research
with the attendees at WOCON. I really enjoyed
working on my project, so it was exciting to get to talk
with other people that also had similar interests in my
topic.

Increasing penetration time for resin infiltration treatment of post-orthodontic white spot lesions

Abstract
Investigate into whether deeper WSL lesions require
a longer duration of Icon-Infiltrant penetration for improved
WSL correction. This study aims to explore the
specifics of treatment technique in order to maximize
the benefits of Icon treatment.

Clear Aligner Adjunct Therapies (CAAT): Effects on Patient Experience
Abstract
The purpose of this prospective pilot study was to
assess if clear aligner adjunct therapies: " Chewies® "
(Chew) or " PULSystem® " (Pul) affected patient experiences.
Pul groups reported significantly lower levels
of 'frustrating' pain and 'strange' pain when compared
to the control. Pul exhibited a significant decrease in
reported pain during trays 1-4 compared to control.
All groups reported high compliance, and no significant
group differences with respect to daily hours of
tray use and days of tray wear. All groups showed high
satisfaction with aligner experience.

It was an honor to present on behalf of OHSU at the
2022 PCSO Conference. I enjoyed sharing my research
with the other attendees and answering any questions
they had.
