Earl's Pearls 3. Partially fill the band with cement making sure that some cement covers the entire inner surface of the band. 4. Seat the band while pressing on both the masking tape and the band attachments. 5. Remove the masking tape, discard, and clean off the excess cement with, first, a toothbrush and later, wiping with a short cotton roll. Figure 2. Section of masking tape with sticky side up and the folded portion on the right. portion provides a non-sticky surface for holding with a rubber gloved hand while the sticky portion holds the band. Clean band cementation: 1. Cut and fold the masking tape strip on an " as needed " basis. 2. Place the sticky portion of the masking tape on the band's occlusal surface. [Figure #2] Being right-handed, I place the attachment side of the band facing the folded tape portion except for the lower left quadrant where I find delivering from the lingual works better. I also seat the lower right quadrant last to avoid having cement on my finger rests while doing the other three quadrants.
