Trustee Report
During the Annual Session, we had the opportunity
to recognize some of our members' great
achievements. While we honor all the 2023 award
winners, I wanted to particularly recognize those
from the PCSO region.
◾ Dr. William R. Proffit Resident Scholar Award,
which looks to identify and reward young
orthodontists who are at the forefront of forging
the future of their profession.
Recipient: Yoon Weon (Christina) Suh,
University of the Pacific; Comprehensive 3D
Analysis of Nasoalveolar Molding in Cleft Lip and
Palate Patients.
◾ Louise Ada Jarabak Memorial International
Teachers and Research Award is selected by
the AAOF. The award is for significant contribution
to orthodontic teaching and research.
Recipient: Jae Hyun Park
◾ AAO Humanitarian Award recognizes
significant contributions to improving the
quality of human life that extend beyond
the usual scope of private practice, academic
functions, or organized dentistry.
Recipient: Robert Merrill
◾ Outstanding Contribution Award by a Nonorthodontist
recognizes a non-orthodontist
for outstanding service to the specialty of
orthodontics.
Recipient: G. William Arnett
◾ David L. Turpin Award for Evidence-Based
Research is given annually by the American
Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics
(AJO-DO). It is given to the highest-rated
systematic review published in the AJO-DO
during the previous year.
Recipient: David W. Chambers and Disha
Thakkar, San Francisco, California, USA, " Consistency
of Orthodontists' Clinical Decisions: A
Systematic Review, Metaanalysis, and Theory
Development. " Am J Orthod Dentofacial Orthop.

◾ Jacob A. Salzmann Lecture is administered by
the AAO Foundation.
Lecturer: Steven Dugoni, Early Orthodontic
Treatment: Why, When, and How?
◾ Albert H. Ketcham Memorial Award is administered
by the American Board of Orthodontics
(ABO) and honors an individual who, in the
judgment of the ABO Directors, has made a
notable contribution to the science and art of
orthodontics.
Recipient: Larry Andrews
◾ Dale B. Wade Award of Excellence in
Orthodontics is presented by the ABO and
honors an exemplary senior clinician and Board
Certified Orthodontist who demonstrates
exceptional dedication to orthodontics through
clinical excellence and/or devoted teaching in
the image of Dr. Wade.
Recipient: John Grubb
As I write this, summer has officially begun. I hope
you get to enjoy what is often the busiest time of
the year in our clinics, while still making sure to
