The Alaska State Society of Orthodontists
had its annual continuing
education and business meeting
on March 31, 2023, in Anchorage,
Alaska. Dental Monitoring sponsored the meeting,
and Dr. Barry Benton spoke on how clinical control
through remote monitoring helps patients finish on
time and how technology can assist clinicians living
in rural areas with weather adversities. The meeting
was well attended, and we enjoyed some good
camaraderie and an opportunity for quality local
continuing education (CE).
Now that the snow is melting and the long daylight
hours have returned, it's time for us to spread out
to the four corners of the state hunting, hiking,
fishing, flying, floating, and generally basking in the
greatness of the great land we call home!

Alberta
The Alberta Society of Orthodontists
(ASO) successfully put together
its annual session on March 17 and
18, 2023, at the Fairmont Banff
Springs Hotel. It was well attended, and the theme
of the conference was digital workflows, highlighting
3M and Invisalign aligners and Lightforce in
addition to other team-related topics. The meeting
featured lectures by Dr. Willy Dayan, Dr. Lisa
Davison, Laryssa Loya-Valdizion, Dr. Moe Razavi, and
Dr. Angela Mulrooney.
In addition, the ASO AGM was held on Friday March
17, 2023, at 4:30 pm. At that meeting, Dr. Cheeba
became president of the ASO, and Dr. Korayem
became the new vice president. The position of
secretary/treasurer was vacant at the time, but
nominations were held, and the position has been
filled by Dr. Vaibhav Gandhi.
The ASO has waived all fees for the 2023 cycle. This
means, once again, there is no cost to becoming a
member. We encourage all who are interested to
take advantage of this, as this is the time when your
membership matters the most.
As the wildfires grow in Northern Alberta, the Alberta
Dental Association (ADA) is coordinating with
government and nongovernment agencies to help
those members and clinics. The ADA held its annual
Alberta Wellness Summit on June 15-17, 2023.

Arizona
The Arizona State Orthodontic Association
(ASOA) held its first quarterly
meeting of 2023 on January 11,
2023, in Tempe, Arizona. The meeting
was attended by all board members, namely, Dr.
Payam Owtad (president), Dr. Treven Rollins (president
elect), Dr. Shane Blacker (secretary-treasurer),
and Dr. Alyssa Levin (AZ/PCSO director). During the
meeting, we discussed several important matters.
One of the key topics of discussion was the selection
of the keynote speaker for the upcoming 2023 ASOA
annual meeting. After reviewing the topics of interest,
it was decided to invite Dr. Steven Dugoni to
deliver the keynote address. In addition, we appointed
a marketing director who will be responsible for
updating the ASOA website and finalizing the venue
for the annual meeting.
Dr. Rollins recommended establishing a connection
with the leaders of the Arizona Dental Association
