The tradition highlighting residents graduating
from California residency programs to CAO members
is back for its fourth year. Both residents and
CAO members respond favorably to this effort,
which promotes graduates within the CAO community
and provides the opportunity to connect
graduates with established orthodontists in the
communities where residents will practice.

Hawaii Society of Orthodontists
(HSO) members were invited to
attend a meeting to review the benefits
and treatment mechanics of a
fully customized straight wire bracket system. The
HSO annual business meeting is scheduled to take
place at The Signature Prime Steak and Seafood in
Honolulu on October 5.

Idaho
The Idaho State Orthodontic
Society (ISOS) meeting was held
on Friday June 9, 2023, at the Boise
Centre. At the ISOS breakfast business
meeting, generously sponsored by OrthoFi/
Banc, we reviewed last year's activity, discussed
the future direction of ISOS, and nominated/voted
on incoming leadership. Our speaker was Tina
Byrne, an industry consultant who has developed
an orthodontic benefit maximization software for
in-network providers that is scheduled for release
by OrthoFi and OrthoBanc in 2023. She spoke on
" Leadership and Accountability " as well as " Insurance
Keys to Success. "

The Nevada State Orthodontic
Society has been diligently working
with the AAO and Nevada Dental
Association during the current
Nevada legislative session on multiple facets.
Our work has focused on patient safety and the
necessity for an in-person doctor exam prior to
any teledentistry treatment. Many thanks to the
AAO team, specifically Nathan Mick, Trey Lawrence,
Gianna Nawrocki, Kimberley VanVeen, and our local
lobbyist Sasha Sutcliffe-Stephenson. Thanks also to
Dr. Frank Beglin for his tireless work on this project
as well.

We hope that everyone who made
it out to Chicago for the AAO Annual
session enjoyed the city and their
time catching up with colleagues!
We would also like to thank all those who supported
and attended the OHSU Orthodontic Alumni
Association's annual Hixon Lecture in Portland back
in early June. We hope you enjoyed the content and
took away some great lessons from our exceptional
speaker!
