Leadership Update

PCSO President 2022-2023
The summer issue is an opportunity for us to come
together and provide a joint report to share the
current happenings in and around the PCSO. Summer
may seem like a time to relax and take it easy,
but amidst the sunny days and balmy evenings,
picnics and pool time, vacations and exploring,
collaboration blooms and your PCSO volunteer
leaders are still hard at work. Our delegation,
board, committees, and task forces are committed
to making the PCSO better for all of you.

Delegation
In April, the AAO hosted its House of Delegates in
conjunction with the Annual Session in Chicago,
Illinois. As always, the group addressed issues
affecting the specialty and our tripartite association,
including revised clinical practice guidelines,
revisions to the American Dental Association
membership requirements, more clearly defined
status for retiring members, revised disciplinary
proceedings for ethics complaints, an amended
reserve policy, constituent support as it relates
to delegate housing and resident involvement,
and review of the consumer awareness program.
The work of your delegation, chaired by Dr. Paul
Kasrovi, should be celebrated. They represented the
membership well and were supportive of initiatives
to move the AAO's mission forward. (You can read

Committees and Task Forces
The Component Relations Committee, chaired by
Dr. Michael Feinberg, continues its work to assist
PCSO component societies and their leaders.
This includes three primary goals focused on
volunteerism, management support services,
and member engagement. PCSO leadership also
continues to visit components at their annual
meetings to share PCSO updates.
The Continuing Education (CE) Committee,
chaired by Dr. Alyssa Levin, is committed to
providing a Western Orthodontic Conference
(WOCON) Annual Session at the Disneyland Hotel
in Anaheim that will be full of great content,
networking events, and enough time to enjoy
the Disney parks. Doctors, teams, and families
are welcome! Registration is open now. Don't
miss it! Can't attend in person? We'll have lecture
recordings available for your purchase. The CE
Committee has also begun working on next
year's WOCON Annual Session, a joint meeting of
the PCSO & RMSO, taking place in Palm Springs,
California, from November 14-17.
The Membership & Communications Committee,
chaired by Dr. Kevin Kai, completed a PCSO member
needs assessment that was then used along
with leadership feedback to update the strategic
plan. Both will help guide the future of the PCSO to
better serve you. In addition, the group is focused
on a member-focused social media campaign and
ways to better engage PCSO members, particularly
new graduates and relocations. Make sure to

The
Non-Dues Revenue (NDR) Committee, chaired
by Dr. Eric Burgin, has focused its efforts thus far
on getting the PCSO virtual learning program up
and running, coming up with an implementation
plan as well as content creation. The group has
also been working on additional NDR sources
such as more endorsed companies and a sponsored
resource center. recommended, and the
board approved, three PCSO-endorsed companies
to date.
The PCSO Women Orthodontists Committee,
chaired by Dr. Marie Lathrop, will host a second
annual women's breakfast at the WOCON Annual
Session in Anaheim after the successful event held
in 2022. They also continue to interview women
orthodontists from around the PCSO to highlight
on social media, seek more female speakers, and
encourage all members to consider nomination
of female orthodontists for AAO and PCSO awards
