Also, FreeFlight announced a new project involving the FDL-978RX, Trig Avionics equipment and Peregrine’s test and certification expertise to bring ADS-B In and Out solutions to market. The three companies will work together on what FreeFlight and Trig executives labeled an effort to integrate ADS-B for lowand medium-altitude aircraft. The initial effort will focus on a Mooney M20C airplane testing Trig’s TT31 transponder with a FreeFlight Systems 1201 WAAS/GPS sensor in support of an FAA STC application, plus an approved model list. FreeFlight also announced its RANGR FDL-978TX ADS-B Out transceiver will be installed in a Cessna 172S by Southeast Aerospace and an STC sought. The company said its FDL-978TX – which complies with TSO C154C – will be installed with its 1201 WAAS/GPS sensor and a TC-978 control head. “Soon, pilots will realize the immediate benefits of ADS-B today,” said Tim Taylor, FreeFlight Systems CEO. Founded in 2001 through the acquisition of Trimble’s avionics products division, FreeFlight Systems operates from its design, manufacturing and repair center in Waco, Texas. used to display ambient CO concentrations, density altitude, cabin altitude, GPS altitude and flight profiles. Because it uses the GPS-derived position from panel-mounted navigators, the Aero 454 all but eliminates signal blanking resulting from aircraft structures or aircraft maneuvering. Icarus Instruments
Icarus Instruments introduced its new ELTT-124 ELT test kit, used to validate installations and during annual inspections of aircraft equipped with an emergency locator transmitter of any specification. “Because of the continued use of 121.5/243 ELTs, it’s important to still be able to properly test these legacy units, which makes the ELTT-124 the perfect all-in-one system for the cost-conscience avionics shop,” said Steve Silverman, president of Icarus. Purpose-built for ramp use on aircraft of all sizes, the ELTT-124 uses a sunlight-readable display for outdoor visibility, while a bright backlight provides easy reading in relatively darker hangars and shop floors. On-board storage of multiple ELT measurements can be updated for documentation requirements, and large, membrane-style buttons are used to control the equipment. In addition to the usual radiated testing of an ELT’s various broadcasting modes, the ELTT124 can be directly attached to all ELTs using the included attenuIcarus Instruments’ ator. The test unit is housed in a ELTT-124 custom Pelican case, complete with an articulating antenna, attenuator, TNC and BNC cables, plus an operator’s guide. The ELTT-124 is available from EDMO Distributors and Dallas Avionics. To learn more, visit www.icarusavionics.com.

Guardian Avionics
Guardian Avionics, known for its portable and panelmounted carbon monoxide detectors, introduced one of its latest products, the Aero 454, which not only warns of CO contamination but wirelessly transmits that data, plus the aircraft’s GPS-derived position, to compatible devices like an iPad. Guardian’s Aero 454 is a behind-the-panel device, which connects to panel-mounted navigators like Garmin’s 430/530, the GTN 650/750 or the G500/600/G900X/G1000 product line, to transmit GPS position and other information to Bluetooth-compatible display devices. It also can be used to place CO-related information on engine monitors from Electronics International and J.P. Instruments via its RS-232 output. The Aero 454 complies with FAA TSO-C48a, works with either 14- or 28-volt DC systems, uses less than .25 watts and weighs only 4 ounces. In-flight use of iPads and Android platforms is increasingly common, and the Aero 454 supports them by providing realtime GPS position information for use with portable applications like Flight Guide, Jeppesen’s Mobile TC and Mobile FlightDeck applications, ForeFlight HD and WingX. Using the Aero 454 and its Bluetooth connectivity will help eliminate wires and cables in the cockpit while ensuring a consistent GPS signal is available for Guardian portable devices. Avionics’ Aero 454 The Aero 454 can be used with or without the company’s portable device application, which can be
