and GMS340 . Also recently certified to TSO and ETSO
standards is Avidyne's AXP340 Mode S transponder . It's
a 240-watt, Class I device, which includes Level 2 1090
MHz datalink capability with extended squitter . The new
transponder meets the FAA's 2020 ADS-B Out mandate
and is a slide-in replacement for popular units like the
KT76A, KT76C and KT78A .
Harper also told attendees Avidyne is making progress
on its IFD540 and IFD440 panel-mounted flight management/GPS/nav/comm products, with FAA certification
paperwork in the works . The two FMS/navigator boxes
combine traditional switches with a touchscreen interface
for what the company believes is the best of both worlds .
The units are plug-and-play compatible with the GNS 530
and GNS 430, respectively, and offer the convenience
of a soft keyboard in dual installations . He said Avidyne
hopes to be shipping the IFD540 by the end of 2014's
second quarter, with the IFD440 to follow soon afterward .
Meanwhile, a PC-based simulator and iPad app are
expected to be available prior to certification . Draft pilot's
guides and installation manuals already are available
online .
Avidyne's DFC90 autopilot now has supplemental type
certificates for installation (with Aspen's EFD1000 Pro)
in the Cessna 182, Cirrus and a wide range of Bonanza
models . The new autopilot adds indicated airspeed-hold
capabilities as well as full-time performance envelope
protection .
Finally, Harper said the company's Release 9 .3 software for its Entegra line of glass panels is nearing FAA
approval . The R9 .3 update adds support for synthetic
vision, a three-display configuration and onboard weather
radar . The synthetic vision capability includes a pilotselectable field of view, 3-D traffic, obstacles and terrain, a
total-velocity vector, runway depictions and in-flight airport
weather depiction .

AvionTEq
AvionTEq offers a wide range of comprehensive testing solutions for avionics businesses of all sizes . Its goal,
according to Michael Pernod, is to offer options and solutions with service the company stands behind . Toward that
end, Pernod announced his company's newest offering,
the MyTEq equipment management tool .
MyTEq can help any avionics company organize its
equipment and answer questions about its location and
status, according to the company . The Web-based online
service is accessible from any computer or connected
device throughout the world and is designed to accommodate information, such as calibration status and due date,
equipment manuals, job-specific supporting documents
and notes . The company said it features an easy-to-use
interface that makes uploading equipment information a
simple task .
Information can include part number, revision status,
model number, quantity, serial number, internal asset ID
and location, person in charge, associated certificates and
as many as three images of the equipment . Documents
associated with the equipment can include specification
sheets, operations manuals, calibration certificates, reference materials, necessary forms and any others necessary or helpful to the equipment's operation or compliance
with policies and regulations .
MyTEq puts all this information in one place and organizes it for easy retrieval, updates and record keeping .
The company believes the new tool can be used by avionics organizations to boost efficiency and productivity,
improve quality control and compliance, and help minimize mistakes along with costly delays and errors . The
company said it also is developing a MyTEq app for iOS
and Android devices .

BendixKing
BendixKing unveiled its new AeroWave 100, an in-flight
Internet solution . The company said its AeroWave 100
system is the first to offer affordable in-flight Internet to
general aviation aircraft, from piston twins, to turboprops
and including light jets . Using the new system, passengers will have the ability to send and receive email and
attachments, browse the Web, and access cloud services
and other mobile applications .
Cost is always a factor, and BendixKing said the
AeroWave 100 will lower the barrier to entry for aircraft
owners and pilots, finally allowing them to easily justify
the cost of adding in-flight Internet to their aircraft while
providing increased operational efficiency and safety . In
keeping with its cost-conscious design, the system utilizes low-cost service plans based on hours of use . The
company said commercial operators of general aviation
aircraft especially can benefit from using the AeroWave
100 by giving pilots access to worldwide graphical
