HAPPINESS ON THE JOB. A generous paycheck. Earning
the respect of management and peers. Making a difference
in the lives of others. Whether it's any or all of these
combined, each person measures career success by a
different yardstick.
We all know professional success doesn't just happen. It
requires education and training, dedication and strong
work ethic, networking, and surrounding yourself with top
performers.
Several articles in this issue provide avenues and habits
to pursue success on the job. Take a peek. Be it effective
recruiting, interviewing, or collaborating, we've got you
covered! And when your department or team is doing
something well, share the good news. Our page six feature
discusses Creative PR Strategies for Foodservice Operations.
Public relations can be a compelling and effective way to
reach your stakeholder groups, and evoke interest in your
creative initiatives.
On the nutrition side of things, we have guidance on
reducing sodium and sourcing gluten-free ingredients.
Neither is easy to do, but both practices can pay dividends in
terms of improved health. Gluten-free menus are gaining in
popularity for various reasons, and knowing how to acquire
items sans gluten is important. See page 24.

The May-June Edge featured an article on the sous vide cooking process. While the article indicated that a HACCP
plan is needed, operations should also check with their local regulatory authority to ensure that any other food safety
requirements are met, and that the sous vide vacuum-packaging and heating process is permitted in an adult care setting.
