A CELEBRATION
OF RESILIENCE

OVER 360 FOODSERVICE
OPERATORS AND EXHIBITORS came
together June 27-29 in Scottsdale,
Ariz. for ANFP's Annual Conference
& Expo (ACE). The event featured
exceptional education sessions,
a vibrant foodservice Expo, and
a special Honor's Gala heralding
the most innovative and dedicated
professionals in our field who received
an array of awards.
ACE kicked off with the Annual
Business Meeting, showcasing
ANFP's initiatives, financial status,
and installation of the new Board
members. ANFP Chair Omar Humes,
CDM, CFPP, now in the second year of
his two-year term, shared his vision
for the year ahead. He emphasized
our collective " We " power and the
importance of planting and sowing
the seeds of our future. This includes
magnifying the important work
being done by our members in the
care of their residents and staff, and
nurturing our leadership roles through
continuing education, collaboration,
and industry partnerships. Our
success in these areas will ensure
the growth of our constituency and
the delivery of meaningful programs
and services for our members and
industry.
Attendees enjoyed a wide range of
education sessions and networking
events. The Opening Keynote session
featured Adam White speaking
on the Power of Resiliency, a very
relatable topic for the many challenges
facing foodservice professionals
today. General sessions included an
exploration of Emotional Intelligence,
and a unique and interactive session
on uncovering your Personal Brand
hosted by ANFP's Industry Advisory
Council. An additional General Session
on ANFP's Continued Competence
initiative provided attendees an update
on the importance of this evolving
program, and was followed by alphatesting
of ANFP's self-assessment tool
with a smaller group of attendees.
Several breakout sessions covered
topics such as Next Level Leadership,
a deep dive discussion on a facility's
Chemical Closet, top 10 foodborne
illness outbreaks, culinary leadership,
diabetes nutrition, IDDSI solutions,
managing angry and disruptive
clients, training to retain staff,
facilitating healing with yoga

gress
therapy, the CDM, CFPP's role in
malnutrition intervention for older
adults, and a certificate program on
allergy awareness. Attendees also
participated in hot topic roundtables
to network and explore new ideas on a
variety of issues.
The return of ANFP's innovative
Expo featured over 50 foodservice
companies and industry partners
sharing a wide array of products,
services, and education. Attendees
enjoyed sampling food, beverages,
and nutritional supplements; viewing
the latest in kitchen equipment,
accessories, and delivery systems;
and learning more about technology
solutions for their operations.
Additional networking events brought
attendees together for some muchneeded
camaraderie and celebration.
The Opening Reception overlooked the
beautiful desert scenery of Scottsdale.
A Volunteer Recognition Luncheon
was held for individual volunteers
and chapters for their service over the
past year, and a Networking Lunch
brought all attendees together for
casual conversation and idea-sharing.
A star-gazing event featured a local
astronomer sharing the wonders of the
desert sky with participants.
The capstone event of the conference
was the Honors Gala, which recognized
the best and brightest members,
volunteers, chapters, and industry
