THE CDM, CFPP WEARS MANY HATS IN A FOODSERVICE OPERATION, AND UNDERSTANDING NUTRITION
FUNDAMENTALS IS ONE OF SEVERAL PIVOTAL RESPONSIBILITIES.
CDM, CFPPs gather and apply nutrition data, and provide
nutrition education to clients. Working in partnership
with an RDN, they assist clients in various ways to promote
optimal intake and improved quality of life through medical
nutrition therapy.
In this issue, we showcase several articles that shine the
spotlight on some aspect of client nutrition. Our page six
feature offers strategies for helping individuals transition
to new nutrition goals. Whether they're moving from
the hospital to long-term care, or transitioning from
independent eating to feeding assistance, these changes to
their usual patterns can be difficult for clients. They may be
afraid or angry about their new situation, and they require
compassion and coaching from the foodservice team.
Our page 12 article revisits the RAI process, and makes sense
of the alphabet soup of resources that CDM, CFPPs use when
nutrition screening and care planning. If you continue
