Felicia Smith is the Director of Hospitality Services
at Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas,
Wyo. An ANFP member for 15 years, she has been in the
foodservice industry for 25 years.

Throughout the conference,
networking events were aimed at
connecting those in attendance. The
Networking Lounge was consistently
packed with people. A Headshot Studio
was offered to attendees who were
interested in having a professional
photo taken.
It was also great seeing so many
new ACE attendees. We tried to
make them feel welcome with a First
Time Attendees Meet and Greet and
Networking Circles. Being a CDM,
CFPP gives us the opportunity to
inspire future foodservice leaders. I
encourage you to do this by looking
for that 'diamond in the rough' in
your facility, and giving them a nudge
towards taking the next step in their
career by becoming a CDM, CFPP.
Someone did that for me and I want to
pay that forward. It makes us stronger
as leaders and it makes the industry
stronger as we add more talented
professionals to the labor pool.
The Expo featured over 45 exhibitors
sharing the latest food trends and
technologies. Walking through
the expo hall I saw attendees
and exhibitors engaged in great
conversation.
ACE concluded with a closing keynote
address from Vanessa Hayes, MPA,
CC, SNS. Her topic was leading with
Grit, Grind, and Gratitude. This
was an outstanding way to end the
conference, as everyone left the room
with a better understanding of how
they can excel as a leader.
ACE continues to be a can't-miss event
and I'm proud to attend as the Chair of
this organization. The laughs, smiles,
handshakes, and hugs remind me how
close-knit we all are as an industry and
how we need to band together to help
each other.
While not everyone can attend an
ANFP live event, you can jump on
ANFPConnect and share your expertise
on the Open Forum. You can volunteer
with the organization at the Chapter
or National level and help guide the
future direction of ANFP. I challenge
you to get involved and help us achieve
our vision and mission. You won't
regret it.
It's not too early to start thinking
about our next Annual Conference,
taking place June 23-26 at the Mall of
America in Bloomington, Minn. Keep
an eye out in the coming months for
more information. I hope to see you
