The harsh conditions of being homeless impacts not only
patients' health and well-being, but also the likelihood of
success for any treatments. Through sustainable efforts,
WesternU's PCHAT Foot and Ankle Clinic hopes to
continue to address the social determinants of health and
reduce health disparities by providing free foot and ankle
screenings and creating preventative health measures to
better support patients in managing the systemic diseases that
affect the lower extremities in the years to come. PCHAT
Foot and Ankle clinic looks forward to continuing being a
safe haven, an invaluable ally, and above all, a culturally
sensitive humanist in the healthcare journeys of the Pomona
community one step at a time.
Organizing this event was a four-month-long
process, with support from the CSPM deans and
administration. We are grateful for the support
from Dr. Eric Stamps, Dr. Cherri Choate, Dr.
David Tran, Ms. Debbie Haynes-Muhammad, and
Ms. Jeanie Lau. Also, this event would not have
been possible without outstanding speakers
representing residency programs from across the
country. The entire CSPM student body is
exceptionally grateful for all the speakers who
took time out of their busy schedules to interact
with us and educate us about the residency
journey ahead.
Finally, I am thankful to the APMSA for providing a
generous education grant, which transformed this
event from a passion project to an actualized
event that served the CSPM Student Body. It is my
hope that we can continue to transition back to inperson
events such as this one, which would
greatly benefit students and allow us to think
beyond our four years in school.
