been drawn to volunteering on the various boards and
organizations. I am deeply grateful to be a foot and ankle
specialist.
Ever since I was a child, I wanted to be a doctor, and finding
my life's purpose in our field of foot and ankle surgery has
been immensely rewarding personally and professionally. So,
it is only natural to give back to a profession that has helped
me find this revelation and be able to help my fellow man
with their foot and ankle maladies every day.
Now for " the who " : I was also very fortunate to train under
Dr. Charles Lombardi, a leader in our profession. He has
and still is a true inspiration and mentor. He continues to
teach and give back an enormous amount of time to various
organizations and legislative efforts while running a successful
practice. He is a true servant leader.
Following in his footsteps has motivated me to do my part.
Teaching and promoting our profession are now my passion
and purpose. If all of us can give back just a little-a few
hours a week or month in whatever way we can, speaking
to individuals or a group about our specialty, volunteering
locally, or answering the calls for volunteering within our
organizations-I honestly think we make a huge collective
impact that will benefit our profession both imminently
and ultimately. Let us all try to be servant leaders for our
profession.
Q: In a recent visit to Temple University School of Podiatric
Medicine (TUSPM), you mentioned the unique advantages of
earning an ABFAS certification. Do you know any testimonies of
how ABFAS Board Certification has uniquely benefited podiatrists,
including yourself?
A: Being actively involved in residency training for all of my
17-year career, I have had several of my residents share how
they were so glad and thankful that they listened and became
Board Certified by ABFAS-residents who, incidentally,
I would run into at the ACFAS Scientific Conference, at
meetings, or who would go out of their way to make a call.
