follow-up calls, notes, and presentations to pediatric
groups to demonstrate successful treatments and
educate them firsthand on the importance of early
intervention. Additionally, transitioning from being a
student to managing a clinic independently required
adaptability and a commitment to continuous learning.
Can you share a memorable patient success story or a
challenging case that had a significant impact on you?
There isn't one specific case that stands out, but the
overall feeling of seeing the impact we make on children
every day is very rewarding. The hugs from parents and
the tears of joy when their child takes their first steps
or excels in sports they normally wouldn't have been
able to do without our help is incredibly meaningful.
It's also rewarding to know that families travel long
distances just to see me, which underscores the need for
more pediatric specialists in various areas. Knowing that
parents trust me enough to travel and stay overnight to

seek my expertise is a success in itself.
What are the most rewarding aspects of your career?
Educating others and growing the pediatric specialty
are very fulfilling. My theater background has helped
me in teaching and performing at various educational
events. Every time I'm on the road to educate, I see light
bulbs go off in fellow podiatrists' minds to start seeing
more kids, and knowing that I'm making a difference in
their approach to treating children is wonderful. Having
colleagues bring their own kids to me for advice is also
very rewarding. Additionally, I enjoy traveling and
photography, often combining these interests with my
educational endeavors.
How do you balance your various roles including
clinical practice, research, teaching, and media?
I prioritize having a rich personal life and making time
for my family. I have a 12-year-old daughter and a
10-year-old son, and I make sure to attend their activities.
I believe there is plenty of time in the day if you manage
it well. My passion for travel, photography, and education
allows me to blend these interests together. For instance,
I took my son to Egypt last year and plan to take my
daughter to the Olympics in Paris this summer. Balancing
these roles requires efficient time management and a
commitment to making the most of every moment.
How does the American College of Foot & Ankle
Pediatrics (ACFAP) contribute to the education and
continuous professional development of pediatric
podiatrists?
ACFAP is the primary educational force for pediatrics
within the APMA. We hold an annual conference to
promote education and student drives, and I often do
Zoom sessions for schools. We're always working on
improving our outreach and educational resources to
