Poster Day: Showcasing
Exciting Student Research
at NYCPM

One of the highlights of the NYCPM experience is
Research Poster Day, a highly anticipated event held each
May. During this event, all third-year students present their
research to faculty, alumni, and residency directors from
across the nation. This year's topics were incredibly diverse,
ranging from novel applications of AI in podiatric practice
to more patient-centered research, such as assessing patient
preoperative perceptions.
Biao Zhang, Ronald Baraga Delannoy, Mohammad Shigiri,
Emil Gulman, and Nikolay Igdalov presented their work
on evaluating commercially available artificial intelligence
(AI) chatbot accuracy in identifying hallux abductovalgus
(HAV) deformity and providing surgical recommendations.
Over several months, they designed two prompts for the AI
chatbots: (1) to assess HAV deformities based on patients'
x-rays, and (2) to provide surgical recommendations based on
