Reflections on
Graduation Day at NYCPM
By Poojan Brahmbhatt and Michelle Yang, NYCPM Class of 2027
On May 20th, NYCPM held its 113th commencement at
the Alice Tully Hall in New York City. Trevell Moxey and
Ksenja Llazar were among the students who shared their
experiences on graduation day. Trevell was the Student
Government Association President for the Class of 2024
while Ksenja was actively involved with APMSA as the
Website & Resources Committee Chair and American
Association for Women Podiatrists (AAWP) Liaison. Like
several of their classmates, both Trevell and Ksenja were
not only academically driven but were also very involved
within and outside the NYCPM community.
Trevell felt it was a surreal experience as he and his peers
achieved a goal that they had been working on for four years.
He was proud of himself and stated how everyone felt an
overarching sense of accomplishment. The energy in the
Alice Tully Hall was filled with beaming smiles and elated
family members. Many guests from all around the world
came to celebrate with the students. He also had the unique
experience of delivering a speech to the audience and shared
some words of wisdom and encouragement as many students
will move to different states and start their residency journey.
Ksenja is excited about the experience of being a resident.

She said, " It will be different and difficult, but I am looking
forward to embracing the challenges of residency with the
same dedication and enthusiasm that have driven me thus
far " . The podiatry residents and attendings at the New
York Presbyterian/Queens are a group of talented teachers,
mentors and Ksenja looks forward to joining their team.
Trevell, on the other hand will be headed to the University
of Pennsylvania and is excited to hone in on his surgical
skills. Trevell admits that he is anticipating a deeper
learning curve along with the growing responsibilities and
expectations. There will be a new hospital, facilities, EMR
system, team, and new attendings that he will work with. As
exciting as this is for him, he is ready to jump in and work
harder than ever to learn and grow.
When asked if there was anything that they would have
done differently during their time at NYCPM, both Ksenja
and Trevell admitted they would not have changed any
part of their experience and thoroughly enjoyed their time.
Though it came with its ups and downs, Ksenja views those
challenges as the experiences that made her who she is
today and would like to thank her mentors for always being
there to guide and help her navigate this journey.
