ACFAP National
Conference Experience

I wanted to share my experience at the 8th Annual
International American College of Foot and Ankle
Pediatrics (ACFAP) Conference in Moab, UT from October
19-21. This conference was a life-changing experience with
endless opportunities to learn from brilliant, passionate,
and innovative leaders in podiatry and pediatrics. I was
grateful to learn from experts like Dr. Louis DeCaro, Dr.
Patrick DeHeer, Dr. Patrick Agnew, Dr. John Grady, Dr.
Ed Harris, Dr. Mitzi Williams, Dr. Matt Dobbs, and Dr.
Hannah Park on various intriguing and vital topics. The
conference covered pediatric limb length discrepancy,
pediatric biomechanics, vertical talus, pediatric trauma,
surgical correction of the pediatric clubfoot, connective
tissue disorders, and special needs patient considerations.
Additionally, I was able to partake in multiple workshops
covering dermatology, practice management, vertical
talus, and clubfoot casting, as well as a pediatric surgical
workshop with cadavers.
Overall, I found this conference and experience invaluable,
and I highly recommend that other students take advantage
of an APMSA Travel Grant opportunity to enjoy ancillary
learning. These are the unique opportunities that allow
and inspire us to continue to advance our amazing field!
Through my attendance, I was able to further cultivate
my interests and experience in podopediatrics, learn from,
and network with, some of the most brilliant leaders in our
field today, gain unique hands-on experience, and enjoy
beautiful scenery, too!
