As a podiatric medical
student, it is critical for
yourself, your colleagues,
and your patients to build
a foundation for leadership
and to think about the
type of leader you want to
become. Medical teams and
patients look towards doctors
for answers, instructions,
guidance and hope.
1. " Model the Way "
Emphasize the acts you want others to follow.
Be the best person you can be to set an example
for others.
2. " Inspire a Shared a Vision "
Visualize the future, and speak it into existence.
This gives other hope and a sense of motivation.
3. " Challenge the Process "
Constantly look for opportunities and question
the status quo.
4. " Enable Others to Act "
Create stronger bridges within each individual and
each other. Establish a healthy and trustworthy
environment where one can facilitate relationships,
and actively involve others.
5. " Encourage the Heart "
Observe all contributions and reward efforts
with celebrating values and achievements.
You should take that role
with full confidence, humility,
and empathy to be the best
leader you can be. With
your responsibility to learn
podiatric medicine, begin to
implement these practices
by strengthening your
leadership skills through selfimprovement,
practice, and
experience.
