American Association of Women Podiatrists
AAWP is the only podiatric medical organization solely
focused on the development, advocacy, and leadership

American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery
ABFAS is the sole organization that examines and
certifies podiatric physicians in foot and ankle surgery.

successfully meet the guidelines
for demonstrating competency and proficiency
in the art and science of foot and ankle surgery.

American Public Health Association

American Society of Podiatric Surgeons

COTH
Council of Teaching Hospitals
COTH is a council within AACP composed of
representatives from every podiatric residency institution
in the country. COTH is also responsible for certifying
programs to participate in the Centralized Residency
Interview Program (CRIP) and provides education and
information to residents and faculty of teaching hospitals.

CPME
Council on Podiatric Medical Education
CPME is the national accrediting agency for podiatric
medical education. The Council wields authority
for accrediting podiatric medical colleges, podiatric
residency and fellowship programs, and recognizing
certifying boards for podiatric medical practice. For

NBPME
National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners
NBPME is a nonprofit corporation that works to develop
and administer examinations related to the production
of highly-qualified podiatric medical practitioners. The
NBPME is directly responsible for administration of
the American Podiatric Medical Licensing Examination
(APMLE), which all podiatric medical students must
pass prior to entering residency. For questions regarding
