Electrically Insulating Inks
for Printing of Smart Textiles

An electrically insulating ink for inkjet printing and
screen printing has been developed. The insulating
ink is based on textile binders with a solid content
of > 15%. This new ink enables electrical insulation
of printed electrically conductive paths and sensor
structures on smart textiles at a layer thickness of >
10 µm binder. However, most often a layer thickness
of >150µm binder is required for mechanically
stressed applications on textiles. The ink provides
good abrasion resistance and good flexibility as
well as it is stable during washing up to 60°C.
