Footprint Data for Climate Action
(Advanced Textiles)
Ben Mead, Managing Director, Hohenstein
ROOM W207D
Specific and accurate data is essential to
sustainable progress. OEKO-TEX has developed
a method for calculating the carbon and water
footprint at each stage of a textile product's life.
This impact calculator is based on a two-year pilot
project with in-depth research for best practices,
current methods of data collection and calculation,
recognized standards, proof of concept and
stakeholder input. Join us to learn how the tool was
developed, how data will be continuously improved
and how the system can be used. We'll discuss how
we can leverage this data to lower our industry's
impact and communicate with customers.
_____
How We Do It vs. Technology
(Specialty Fabrics)
Jonathan Palmer, CEO, Autometrix,
Precision Cutting Solutions
ROOM W207A
We all have deep knowledge and experience doing
things a certain way. It may have taken us decades to
learn from mistakes, see opportunities for efficiency
gains, and write up processes that others in the
company can follow. When we go looking for new
tools and technologies as our companies grow,
it's only natural to be trying to fit the technology
into our existing processes.
What if we turn that on its head and let new
technology drive the process? Come explore realworld
examples of how one new tool or system can
affect an entire workflow in a business and leave
ready to explore new technology with an open mind.
_____
Marine Fabrication Is Changing,
Can You Make the Change?
(Marine)
Rick Berkey, Owner, Rick's Custom
Marine Canvas and Sail Repair
ROOM W207BC
The past few years we have had changes that have
happened in months not years. Not knowing where
the next turn is, will you be able to adapt to the next
turn? Our approach to the changes are defining the
products we do, and don't do; expanding the types of
projects that we are willing to do and what will help
sustain work flow in the future.

5 Reasons Your Website is
Sabotaging Your Revenue Goals
(General Business)
Mallory Mullen, Sales Manager, Goodshuffle Pro
ROOM W201CD
Have you ever considered if your website is actually
working against your ability to land the right clients
and generate revenue? What if your website is
actually enabling your competitors to sneak ahead?
In this session, Mallory discusses five surprisingly
common mistakes companies make on their websites
and how to generate revenue for your business.
10-10:50 am
Multifunctional Smart Composite
Yarns that Thermoregulate and Heal
(Advanced Textiles)
Matthew Kolmes, CEO, VOLT Wearable Tech,
a division of Supreme Corporation
ROOM W207D
We will explore how there is a synergy between
combining yarns that absorb your body's own
energy and use that energy to stimulate nano
particles embedded in a parallel yarn. By using
this technique, we can create fabrics that can
sense and heal wounds, and infections while
thermoregulating the body.
_____
The Ins and Outs of Digital Plot &
Cut file generation - What Everyone
Should Know from the Start
(Specialty Fabrics)
Timothy Akes, Representative for the Americas,
MPanel Software Solutions in the Americas
ROOM W207A
With the large variety of digital CNC plotting and
cutting tables and devices available today, there
are still a few basic things that everyone using or
thinking about starting up with this equipment,
needs to know up front. Essentially which options
and formats you can use to generate the best
possible results and ensure a successful outcome.
In this session we will discuss digital cut file
formats, which one should you use and why, explore
why details like layer names, color, line and font
types matter and how to configure them, and much
more. Our discussion will be inclusive of most all
currently available equipment.

11-11:50 am
Transitioning from FluorocarbonBased
to Fluorine-Free Durable
Water Repellents
(Advanced Textiles)
Frank Keohan, Senior Technology Manager,
Bolger & O'Hearn, Inc.
ROOM W207D
Durable water repellents (DWRs) provide many
beneficial properties to textiles including resistance
to rain, staining and abrasion. They can improve
sustainability by extending products' useful life and
reducing cleaning-related resources. Repellents
based on perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have
long been the performance leaders but lately have
been under increased regulatory scrutiny. Many
manufacturers have been transitioning to fluorinefree
DWRs where possible. Attendees will learn
the basics behind different repellents, regulatory
issues and the evolving technology for increasing
the ecological profile of these products.

Fabric Facades Versus Metal
Mesh in Building Enclosures:
Eight Unique Selling Points
(Shade and Weather Protection)
David Peragallo, Tensile Architecture Business
Consultant, Serge Ferrari North America
ROOM 207BC
The intention of this presentation is to give eight
strong arguments about the advantages of using
a fabric façade as an a esthetic and bioclimatic
solution over metal mesh /panels. This presentation
will focus on the unique selling points to present the
textile facade solution to building owners, architects
and designers. The goal in presenting this topic is
to help the industry to increase the façade market
share, vastly dominated by the metal industry.
_____
Cyber Security and the Supply Chain
(General Business)
John Stengel, CEO & President, JSCM Group
ROOM W201CD
Every company in the world has been negatively
impacted one way or another by a cyber security
breach that has occurred within their supply chain.
Organizations have started spending more time and
resources on cyber security which has forced the
criminals to adjust their game plan. Criminals have
figured out it's easier to exploit a single supplier,
which results in hundreds of companies being
attacked in a supply chain, than it is to attack one
large organization. Why rob one bank when you
can hack into the company that locks all the
vaults for banks all over the country?
