FGI elects new board
of directors
The Fabricated Geomembrane Institute
(FGI) has elected seven individuals to
its board of directors for the 2023-2025
term. The new board of directors consists
of president Patrick Elliott (Viaflex/
Colorado Lining International); treasurer
Ray Peebles (Cooley Group); secretary
Brian Fraser (Layfield Geosynthetics);
and board members Todd Harman
(Hal laton Environmental Linings
Inc.), Doug Hilts (Hilts Consulting
Group Inc.), Maya Innis (International
Cover Systems Inc.), and Duff Simbeck
(Simbeck and Associates).
Concrete Canvas and TechFab
India enter partnership for
Indian market
Concrete Canvas Ltd. (CC) and TechFab
India have signed an exclusive partnership
contract for the sales, marketing
and distribution rights of CC's patented
product range of geosynthetic cementitious
composite mats (GCCMs) across
all market sectors of India. The agreement
brings together two companies
that have both demonstrated strong
growth over the last 15-plus years.
Concrete Canvas was founded in 2005
by directors William Crawford and Peter
Brewin to commercialize its Concrete
Canvas material technology and is recognized
as the first in a new class of
geosynthetic products used across a
wide range of markets for erosion control,
weed suppression and containment
applications. TechFab India was founded
in 2003 by managing director Anant
Kanoi and has grown into a business
that manufactures and supplies a broad
range of geosynthetic products across

India and multiple export markets; the
company is known for providing worldclass
geosynthetic products with a focus
on quality and customer service.
Erosion control blankets
production commences
at WINFAB
Manufacturing at Willacoochee Industrial
Fabrics Inc. (WINFAB) is now full
speed ahead including the production of
erosion control blankets at the newly constructed
facility in Nashville, Ga. Located
on an 18-acre (7.28-h) parcel of land
recently developed and incorporated into
the WINFAB campus, the erosion control
production facility was the first of two
capital expansion projects announced by
WINFAB during the second half of 2022.
The second capital expansion project
underway includes the installation of a
nonwoven needlepunch production line
in Nashville.
AFITEXINOV Geosynthetics
introduces new
management team
Yves Durkheim, president of the AFITEX
Group, will soon leave his position after
31 years at the head of the group he
created in 1992 with Didier Benamu.
Sébastien Mathiot, CEO since January
2023, will succeed him. Sparring Capital,
an independent management company,
is taking a majority stake in the capital of
the AFITEXINOV group, together with
the management team and the investment
company Swen Capital Partners.
Durkheim and Benamu-cofounders of
the group-will remain shareholders and
will continue to support AFITEXINOV
on strategic issues.
Shaw Industries acquires
Watershed Solar
Shaw Industries Group Inc. has completed
the purchase of a controlling interest
in Watershed Solar LLC. Watershed
Solar provides patented renewable energy
solutions. The technology, branded
PowerCap, supplies low-profile, highoutput
solar arrays on top of landfills,
coal ash closures and rooftops-turning
liabilities or underused spaces
into renewable energy assets. Shaw
announced in October 2021 that it had
purchased a significant controlling interest
in Watershed Geosynthetics LLC and
entered into a letter of intent to acquire
controlling interest in Watershed Solar.
With this transaction now complete,
Watershed Solar and Watershed Geo will
operate as Watershed Geo-providing
innovative, sustainable solutions to its
customer base of large utilities, government
agencies and global industries.
Trexiana appoints CEO
Trexiana, global manufacturer and distributor
of the sustainable geomodular
construction material Flex MSE, has
announced that Gurchate (Gurch) Sekhon
has been appointed CEO. President and
former CEO Mike Callewaert, who has
led Trexiana since its founding in 2007,
will continue as president. " Gurch is
uniquely talented and highly respected
in our industry, " says Callewaert. " That
aside, it was his people-first mentality that
sealed the deal. Gurch truly cares about
the relationships he nurtures both inside
and outside of the company. His expertise
for replacing conventional technologies
with low-carbon, value-added solutions is
matched only by his passion. He's a perfect
fit for our culture and mission at Trexiana. "
