Geomembrane-capped
landfill PV Solar Plant named
2023 Project of the Year
The American Society of Civil Engineers
(ASCE) New Jersey Section recognizes
and celebrates outstanding individuals
and projects that have made significant
contributions to the civil engineering
industry in the state of New Jersey
within the past calendar year. The 2023
Project of the Year winner is the GEMS
Landfill PV Solar Plant. The partners
involved in this project were project
owner, Syncarpha Capital and Pacolet
Milliken LLC; project racking solution,
Terrasmart; and project EPC contractor,
CS Energy. Annually, the solar park is
expected to produce nearly 6.1 million
kWh of " clean zero emissions power, "
enough to offset 4,313 metric tons of
carbon dioxide emissions. Over the
course of 25 years, the facility will yield
approximately $1 million in lease revenue
to Gloucester Township.
WINFAB announces additional
expansion of erosion control
blanket production
Willacoochee Industrial Fabrics Inc.
(WINFAB) announces additional
expansion of erosion control blanket
production capacity, continuing on a
path to grow production capabilities
of WINFAB-branded products made
in the United States. Starting in 2022,
WINFAB engaged in a number of key
growth capital projects benefiting the
U.S.-based erosion control and geotextile
market. At WINFAB's headquarters
and production campus in Nashville,
Ga., installation of a nonwoven needlepunch
geotextile production line is currently
underway.

Freudenberg expands
global 3D entangled mat
production with new
geosynthetic line in China
Freudenberg Performance Materials has
begun operating a new 3D entangled mat
production line in Changzhou, China. It
enables Freudenberg to supply customers
in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region
with Enka Solutions made in China for
building, industrial and civil engineering
applications. Freudenberg is now
able to serve customers in diverse technical
markets with finished and semifinished
products. This investment in
China will significantly increase Enka
Solutions' production capacity and will
play a fundamental role in the development
of Enka business with customers
in the APAC region. The new production
line in Changzhou complements the
manufacturing operations in Obernburg,
Germany; and Asheville, N.C.
Glen Raven selling Strata
business to construction
leader Infra.Market
Glen Raven Inc. has reached an agreement
to sell its Strata geosynthetics products
and related construction business to
Hella Infra Market Private Ltd. ( " Infra.
Market " ), an India-based B2B online procurement
marketplace for construction
materials. This sale represents the next
step in executing Glen Raven's long-term
global investment strategy in support of
its key brands. " This move enables us to
focus on expanding our leadership in
Glen Raven's core markets and extending
our brands into new spaces, " says Leib
Oehmig, CEO of Glen Raven. Strata was
acquired by Glen Raven as part of a larger
acquisition in 2007 and has expanded
into a global presence in partnership with
India-based Strata Geosystems India Pvt.
Ltd. Today, Strata is known globally as
a full-service solution provider for the
construction industry.
L. David Suits, MSCE, receives
Albert Nelson Marquis
Lifetime Achievement Award
Marquis Who's Who, publisher of biographical
profiles, recently presented
L. David Suits, MSCE, with the Albert
Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement
Award. An accomplished listee, Suits
celebrates many years of experience in
his professional network and has been
noted for achievements, leadership qualities,
and the credentials and successes
he has accrued in his field. Suits is an
independent consultant and the owner of
LDS Geosynthetic Consultant Services.
Based in Albany, N.Y., his firm specializes
in geosynthetics and soils, offering
a myriad of services, including expertise
in such areas of soil and geosynthetic
training, testing setup, test standards,
specification development and end user
geosynthetic quality assurance program
setup. He established his consultancy in
late 2016.
SKZ expands geosynthetics
testing capacity with new
high-pressure autoclaves
Manufacturers rely on high-quality geosynthetics
that are used for many decades.
The German Plastics Center (SKZ) is
responding to the growing demand for
a qualitative estimate of the service life
of geosynthetics by expanding its testing
capacity by another six to a total of 20 systems
for high-pressure autoclave testing
