Tensar receives environmental
product declarations for
geogrid products
Tensar, a division of CMC and the leading
provider of soil stabilization and earth
reinforcement solutions, has secured Environmental
Product Declarations (EPDs)
for several of its high-performing products-a
first for geogrid products manufactured
in North America. The news
represents another step by Tensar to accelerate
the development of more sustainable,
longer-lasting roads and other forms of
critical infrastructure. The use of EPDs
to assess environmental impacts such
as Global Warming Potential (GWP) is
growing rapidly, including in the construction
industry. Tensar recently completed
EPDs for its stabilization geogrid product
lines. The EPDs signify that these Tensar
geogrid products are now in conformance
with the stringent type III environmental
declarations set by UL Environment and
the International Standards Organization.
Ionic Industries announces first
sale of graphene geotextile
Ionic Industries has signed an agreement
for the sale of its first product
developed from the company's portfolio
of graphene technologies. Its patented
conductive coatings applied to geotextiles
are one of the world's first large-scale
applications of graphene technologies
and marks a major milestone in the company's
growth. The supply agreement
with GeoFabrics Australasia is for the
supply of conductive, coated geotextile
for sale by GeoFabrics as their Bidim-C
product. The Bidim-C product is used to
detect holes and potential leaks in newly
constructed dams and water tank projects.
The agreement is for the supply of
Bidim-C over the next 12 months.

Wrekin introduces new geogrid
Wrekin Products' new SX Composite
3030 consists of nonwoven geotextile
thermally bonded to its existing SX
geogrid. Developed with contractor
feedback in mind, it combines the functions
of reinforcement, separation and
filtration into one product, rather than
having to use two separate solutions.
The solution will help save time when
acquiring materials and achieve quicker
installations, thanks to the multipurpose
product performing as both a geogrid
and a geotextile solution combined. SX
Composite consists of nonwoven geotextile
thermally bonded to Wrekin's SX
geogrid, allowing the customer to achieve
time savings when acquiring materials
and overall quicker installations.
HUESKER introduces highquality
geogrids manufactured
from 100% recycled PET
With ecoLine, HUESKER is the first geosynthetic
manufacturer in the world to
offer high-quality reinforcement solutions
made from recycled raw material, making
a fundamental contribution to resourceconserving
and sustainable construction
with geosynthetics. The recycled material
is obtained from disposed polyethylene
terephthalate (PET) bottles and is an engineered
equivalent alternative to virgin
PET yarn. In addition to identical product
properties, the CE marking required in
Europe also makes the ecoLine reinforcement
products a sustainable alternative
for private and public developers. Moving
forward, HUESKER's polyester product
lines, HaTelit C asphalt reinforcement,
Fortrac T geogrid and Basetrac Grid base
course reinforcement and the Stabilenka
geogrid, are also available in Germany as
ecoLine in addition to the original version.
Seaman Corp. honored for
commitment to community
The United Way of Wayne and Holmes
counties in Wooster, Ohio, has named
Seaman Corp. the 2022 winner of the
Stanleys Cup, in recognition of the company's
long history and engagement with the
community. The Stanleys Cup is named in
honor of two legendary business and civic
leaders-Stanley C. Gault, former CEO of
Rubbermaid and a 1948 graduate of the
College of Wooster, and the late Stanley
Welty Jr., CEO of Wooster Brush. Each
year it recognizes a Wayne or Holmes
County organization that actively encourages
philanthropy among its employees,
and whose leadership is actively engaged
in the community. These men spent much
of their lives giving back to others-a mentality
that Seaman Corp. was founded on
and continues to prioritize today.
Commercial Metals
Co. acquires geogrid
manufacturing plant
Commercial Metals Co. (CMC) has
acquired a geosynthetics manufacturing
facility from BOSTD-America. The
facility, located in Blackwell, Okla., currently
produces several product lines for
Tensar Geogrid under a contract manufacturing
arrangement. This acquisition
will not immediately increase Tensar's
manufacturing capacity, but provides
enhanced flexibility in Tensar's supply
chain, as well as the opportunity for
low capital cost capacity additions in
the future. Through its Tensar division,
CMC is a leading global provider of
innovative ground and soil stabilization
solutions, selling into more than
80 national markets through its two
major product lines: Tensar geogrids
and Geopier foundation systems.
