[ BRIEFS ] International Achievement Awards 2022 Streamlined Shelter Shade Sails AWARD OF EXCELLENCE Winery wayside Argyle Winery in Dundee, Ore., requested a fast-turnaround custom shade solution due to the sudden heat wave that was hitting the state and impacting its business. The goal was to provide an elegant shade structure that elevated the space and helped make the outdoor wine-tasting experience more comfortable, festive and visually attractive. By repurposing fabric panels from a previous installation, a solution was in place within a week. The design features an array of large hexagons utilizing the existing buildings and custommade bi-pod posts around the perimeter. This allowed for minimum use of posts and allowed the design to seamlessly integrate with the surroundings, providing a refined and elegant solution with minimal structural impact on the environment.
