Services for Family and Children
Boulder County Head Start (BCHS)
BCHS promotes school readiness for children, ages 3 to 5, in families with low income by
offering educational, nutritional, health, social, and other services. Head Start programs
enhance the social and cognitive development of children and actively engage families in
their children's learning, setting children up for success in kindergarten.

Healthy Youth Alliance (HYA)
HYA ensures that all youth, parents, caregivers, and community members have the knowledge
and skills to support youth in healthy, positive choices and behaviors. This is accomplished
through supporting programs to reduce youth substance use, including Parents Involved in
Education, agencies funded through the Substance Education and Awareness Fund, and
partnering with community-based organizations to support parenting classes.

Child Welfare
The Family and Children Services team in Boulder County offers comprehensive support
focusing on child welfare, including protection services, foster care, kinship support, and
mental health referrals, all aimed at ensuring safe and supportive environments for children
and families. Concerns about child safety can be reported to the Colorado Child Abuse
and Neglect Hotline or the Boulder County Child Welfare screening line, with emergency
situations directed to 911.

Adult Protection Services (APS)
Services provided include case coordination, short-term management, and assistance with
guardianship, along with offering necessary information and referrals to reduce risk and support
the vulnerable. Concerns about adult safety can be reported by calling the number below.
