Welcome to Volume 36, Issue 8 of The Catalyst Review, an August occasion if
I may say so.
This time out, we've got Part Two of Dawid Hanak's examination of sorption in CO2
/hydrogen
in rendering energy from waste, with an eye toward the specific role of catalysis. Dawid has
previously worked with The Catalyst Review's parent company, TCGR, serving as peer reviewer
on our membership-derived reports (more on this subject presently), and is also known to our
friends at Enabled Future Limited, including Advisory Board member Michelle Lynch, so it's
always great to hear from him (his internet webinars are also recommended).
The word musk has significant connotations within the technology sector, but on Page 3 (no
peeking!) we are talking about the synthetic, olfactory variety. Musk is often produced through
complex chemical reactions, many of which involve catalysts - to speed up the process or,
perhaps, to guide the reaction in a particular direction or reduce unwanted outcomes. FriedelCrafts
reactions; Lewis acid facilitators; condensation reactions - in the end, who could argue
that catalysis nose best?
Elsewhere, in a slight break with tradition, we offer something unique from Global Energy
Mentors on the topic of startup energy companies. The subject is top of mind, as TCGR
recently rebranded its longstanding CO2
CC Program as the Industrial Energy Transition
and Decarbonization (IETD) Consortium. One of the key differentiators of the expanded
platform is that IETD has made provisions for start-up companies to get involved.
A worthy companion to our Catalytic Advances Program (CAP), IETD will help point the way
toward a prosperous and ecologically essential position for companies - new and veritable -
vested in the energy transition, and I encourage all readers, including any startups who may
be within the sound of my keyboard, to find out a bit about the rest of what TCGR has to offer.
