Hello December, and farewell to an exemplary
and prosperous 2023!
In this edition, we spotlight a landmark article on electrocatalyst-driven electrosynthesis
by Dr. Vahide Nuran MUTLU, a very accomplished author and scholar from SOCAR
Türkiye Research & Development and Innovation. Electrochemical synthesis represents
a promising alternative to traditional thermochemical methods for the production of
valuable chemicals and fuels, Dr. Vahide tells us, and the paradigm shift in chemical
synthesis offers numerous advantages you can read all about on Page 8.
This edition also offers new insights from returning author Rafał Gawin, who brings us up
to speed on Aperion's recent accomplishments in ruthenium-based catalysts in support of
ethenolysis. Apeiron's novel catalyst, Slashcat, strikes a blow against climate change, Rafał
tells us on Page 3 and promotes a road toward sustainable green chemistry.
The Catalyst Review has covered an incredible amount of technical territory in the
year gone past, but nothing to approach the epic scope and scale of " The Intelligence
Report: Business Shifts in the Global Catalytic Process Industries, 2023-2029, "
produced by our parent company, TCGR (with the help of some names on the Advisory
Board list to the right of this text). We've just produced our 20th edition, representing a
40-year trajectory, so I hope you'll agree that celebration is in order for the appearance of
this must-have resource.
This edition must feel like a giftwrapped present in your hands, so I will keep additional
commentary to a minimum, but our Mover-Shaker Sameer Vijay of Borouge PTE is poised
to knock your stockings off with his insights on the chemistry of recycling.
Here's to 2024! Perhaps next year, my stocking will contain additional sustainable catalytic
solutions to complement the more traditional coverage of combustible, sedimentary
fossil fuel. Onward and upward!
