Happy 2024 and welcome to Volume 37, Issue 1 of The Catalyst Review!
January starts the year off fine with Salvatore Ali, a member of our Board of Advisors,
who takes a deep dive into polyolefins catalysts and components, with emphasis on
the associated technology advances and markets. Salvatore wrote about the plastics
industry in our August 2022 edition, as I was just getting started at The Catalyst Review,
and it is enlightening to get his update on the most critical developments in this sector.
Projections estimate the plastic mechanical recycling rate could reach 10-13% of global
polymer demand in 2030 and 14-20% in 2040, Salvatore tells us, while chemical recycling
could satisfy 4-8% of total polymer demand by 2030 and 6-10% by 2040, with capital
investment poised to exceed $90 billion by 2040. Salvatore breaks it all down with vivid
charts and diagrams spotlighting the key ramifications for polyolefin catalysts starting on
Page 6.
We are also pleased to welcome a new author, Mayur Jadhav, who brings us up to date
on the achievements of Matrix Global Speciality (Matrix) in the field of pseudoboehmites.
