campus, the Spurlock Museum highlights
world heritage & cultures taking you
around the world through time to
showcase our shared humanity. Lectures,
performances, storytelling and rotating
exhibits share the diversity of cultures
inviting you to explore time and again.
LEARN LOCAL HISTORY
Located in the oldest building in
Champaign, the Champaign County
History Museum tells our storied past
through engaging exhibits. Recently named
Small Museum of the Year by the Illinois
Association of Museums, this museum and
its volunteers will impress you with their
passion and knowledge of the events and
people that made our community what it
is today. Just to the South, the Douglas
County History Museum preserves the
history of the area, featuring artifacts
dating back to the Civil War.

LINCOLN & LIFE ON
THE PRAIRIE
Featuring a significant collection on
Abraham Lincoln and his time in East
Central Illinois while on the 8th judicial
circuit, the Museum of the Grand Prairie
paints a broad picture of the history of the
area. Collections and exhibits share the
story of African Americans in Champaign
County, blacksmithing, and a new, timely
exhibit on the history of healing. Discover
this spot on the scenic grounds of the Lake
of the Woods Forest Preserve.
SHOW YOUR PRIDE
CU Pride Fest is a community celebration
of LGBTQ+ and allyship is a family-friendly
affair in downtown Urbana. A parade
weaves its way through the historic streets
while vendors and community resources
line the streets. Entertainment and
education round out the weekend of this
continually growing event.
