Throughout the year, treat yourself to work by
local artists at festivals and fairs. Here ares
just a few where you can find that one-of-akind
piece.
Boneyard Arts Festival
Boneyard Arts Festival
The largest art event of the year, brought to you
every April by 40 North, the Champaign County
Arts Council, is an event like no other. The Boneyard
Arts Festival is intended to showcase artists and
the community. You'll discover art in over 70 venues
ranging from traditional art spaces to vacant
buildings transformed for the weekend. Over 100
artists participate, collaborating with each other to
create an extraordinary experience that's not to be
missed.
Crystal Lake Park Art Fair
Now a mainstay in August, this fair, held in the
beautiful Crystal Lake Park in Urbana, showcases
several dozen local and regional artists. Spend
your summer day discovering their talent, eating
at the food trucks, and taking part in the kids'
activities on hand.
West Side Arts
Held each September in West Side Park in
downtown Champaign, this newer festival is set up
on the meandering paths of this urban park. Pick
up unique pieces for yourself from an array of local
artists.
Craft League of C-U Fine Art Fair
The first of many events leading up to the year-end
holidays, this longtime event takes over the Savoy
Riggs Christmas Market
Recreation Center. Dozens of artists are on hand to
help you start on your shopping list, but don't forget
to snag something for yourself!
Champaign-Urbana Spinners & Weavers Guild
Showcasing this intricate artistry, this active
guild hosts their annual sale every November.
Shop everything from sweaters, hats, gloves,
and tapestries, all hand-made by those in our
community.
Mistletoe Market
With two events over the holiday season in Urbana
and Champaign, you'll have multiple opportunities
to cross off whatever is on your gift list from the
incredible artisans and makers.
Riggs Christmas Market
Riggs Beer Company, in keeping with their German
roots, brings a traditional Christkindlmarkt to their
sprawling space every weekend from Thanksgiving
to Christmas. Bundle up for winter, shop from the
artisans housed in hand-made wooden stalls, pick
up some German-inspired food, and of course, sip
on a local beer.
