Altgeld Hall
Altgeld Hall
Completed in 1897, this building is the backdrop
to the Alma Mater and is considered one of the
finest examples of Richardsonian Romanesque
architecture.
Round Dairy Barns
On the south side of campus, you'll find these
historic barns that were designed to withstand
prairie windstorms. Built in 1907 and 1910, these
barns are on the National Historic Registry.
State Farm Center
The Fighting Illini
As a member of the Big Ten conference, Fighting Illini
Athletics hosts nine men's sports and ten women's sports
filled with action and excitement. Here's your rundown of the
seasons to enjoy all our college athletes.
FALL
Join the tailgate festivities in Grange Grove and other lots surrounding
Memorial Stadium before the Fighting Illini Football team takes to the field.
Follow the Marching Illini as they parade into the stadium for pre-game and take
to the field for halftime. Illini Women's Volleyball returns to Huff Hall to dominate
their competitors as they fight to win a Big Ten Championship. Women's Soccer,
Men's & Women's Cross Country and Women's Swimming & Diving offer free
opportunities to get out and support the Orange & Blue.
State Farm Center
Arguably the most unique sports arena in the
country, the State Farm Center was designed by
alumnus Max Abramovitz and is one of the world's
largest edge-supported domes.
Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology
This state-of-the-art building was completed in
2007 and is home to research that addresses
critical challenges facing society in agriculture,
human health, the environment, and energy use
and production. Just to the west is Morrow Plots,
the country's oldest experimental agricultural
fields.
WINTER The excitement of basketball comes to the State
Farm Center with Fighting Illini Men's Basketball led by
Coach Brad Underwood and Women's Basketball led by
Shauna Green, who is coming off her historic first year
as head coach. With the Orange Krush student section
getting the crowd riled up, the noise reaches peak
levels to help the teams knock off their Big Ten foes.
Men's Wrestling and Men's & Women's Gymnastics
welcome fans and hold plenty of kids' activities at their
matches and meets throughout the season.
SPRING Show your Illini pride at Men's
Baseball and Women's Softball with many fan activities
to get engaged, including the World's Largest Softball
Tailgate and the Bleacher Bum Barbecue. Men's &
Women's Track & Field competes at the impressive
Demirjian Park, and Men's & Women's Tennis fight it out
on the courts at the Atkins Tennis Center & Khan Outdoor
Complex.
