LAKE OF THE WOODS FOREST
PRESERVE
From Memorial Day to Labor Day, get
out on this lake with rentable kayaks,
rowboats, and pedal boats and enjoy the
surrounding scenery in this stand-out
preserve.
RIVER BEND FOREST PRESERVE
As the largest lake in Champaign
County, River Bend is ideal for kayaking
across 130 acres. Their Possibility Pier
was designed for universal accessibility
and is a perfect spot to spend time
fishing.
CRYSTAL LAKE PARK
Visit the Lake House from May through
Labor Day to hop on their rentable
kayaks, canoes, and pedal boats as you
enjoy the natural areas and bridges that
span the lake.
KAUFMAN LAKE
This urban lake in Champaign provides
the perfect getaway for a quick paddle
on your canoe or kayak, a relaxing way to
start or end your day.
SANGAMON RIVER
Kayak down the Sangamon River, a 246mile
tributary to the Illinois River. Book a
trip with Kingfisher Kayaking with a 3.6mile
or 5.7-mile route of the part of the
river that flows outside Mahomet.
LAKE SHELBYVILLE WATER TRAIL
In Sullivan, hop on their kayak trail with
six stops along twelve miles of the
Kaskaskia River, just off Lake Shelbyville.

An hour south of Champaign-Urbana, you'll
find Lake Shelbyville in Sullivan. This large
lake will satisfy your craving to get out on
the water, whether you want to kayak or
take out a speedboat. Feel the wind through
your hair as you go around the lake and
discover the many outdoor adventures
surrounding the area. Boat rentals are
available! Beachgoers can enjoy a day
in the sand and water, picnicking and
swimming at Sullivan Beach. While in the
area, stop for a bite at Sullivan Marina's
North End Pub & Grill, located on the
water.
