Go Climbing
Challenge yourself to a new physical activity at Urbana
Boulders. Their evolving climbing walls will give you as much
or as little of a challenge as you can handle. Try their challenge
of doing courses that match the color of your shirt or take the
easiest path to get to the top. With their regularly changing
courses, artistic interior, and collaborations with spots like
Cloud Mountain Kombucha, you'll have a fun day of play in
this active space.
Splish Splash
Cool down this summer with a little splashing around. Our
local aquatic centers allow kids to swim, slide, and play while
staying cool in the summer sun. Lazily float on the river at
Sholem Aquatic Center in Champaign before speeding
things up on their waterslides. Climb the wall and splash into
the water at the Crystal Lake Park Family Aquatic Center
in Urbana, where you can walk against the resistance of
the water in the vortex. Nearby pools in Rantoul, Monticello,
Paxton and Tuscola provide a perfect setting for sunshine and
swimming.
CU Adventures
Solve an Escape Room
The award-winning CU Adventures in Time and Space will astound
you with their storytelling and scenery. With filmmaking as a
background and artists on staff, this spot in Urbana has a variety
of puzzles to solve, both in person and virtually. Six rooms will bring
out your competitive side as you navigate a series of puzzles and
challenges. In Champaign, Brainstorm Escapes continues the
challenge with a rotation of rooms that will make your group work
hard and together to make your way out.
Try virtual escape rooms and other games with JJ's FunHouse. This
new virtual reality lounge immerses your group into an adventure
where you have to work together to solve the puzzle. Try their laser
tag games as well!
