Fact-our area is flat, with the horizon
stretching before you. This leads to
spectacular sunsets and easy long runs.
For those runners and walkers out there,
put one of our many races on your list to
compete in. Here are just a few to check out.
CHRISTIE CLINIC ILLINOIS RACE WEEKEND
Held the last weekend in April, this two-day
race weekend has an event for everyone. It
includes a 1-mile, 5-K, 10-K, Half-Marathon,
Wheelchair Half-Marathon, Marathon Relay,
Marathon, and Youth Run. A health and
fitness expo filled with vendors and a street
fest with local beer, food trucks, and live
music make this a must for any runner.
KIRBY DERBY
In Monticello, join this fun and popular 5K,
10K, and kid's race in Forest Park, held every
May.
Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon

MAHOMET HALF MARATHON & 5K
For over 25 years, runners have flocked
to Mahomet to run the countryside for the
half marathon or 5K. Hydrate beforehand
as hot August weather presents a unique
challenge along the way.
ST. JOE SANTA 5K
Embrace the holiday spirit for the St. Joe
Santa 5K run that has become an area
tradition.

Trail Runs
ALLERTON HALF MARATHON & 10K
In the most scenic run in the area, you'll
run on the trails off the Sangamon River at
Allerton Park & Retreat Center. Don't miss
the Friday Trail-Glo 5K run that starts this
race off every April.
BUFFALO TRACE TRAIL RACE
Hosted by Second Wind Running Club,
this 5-mile race takes you through the
preserve's natural prairies and wooded
areas.
