POTTERY CLASSES
Handbuilding
Whether you're pinching, coiling, or
slab building, handbuilding allows for a
more tactile and intimate connection
with your creation. Beginner students
will learn the fundamental techniques
of hand building in ceramics (pinch,
coil, and slab methods) and
Intermediate and advanced students
will refine their skills. Participants will
also explore the possibilities for
surface decoration using stamps and
sprigs to texture and adorn their work.
Students in this class may participate
in open studio.

Mud Mixers
A class of mixed level students who
will learn to expand their skills with
guided instruction. Demonstrations
will include a variety of techniques in
coil, slab, wheel and surface
decoration. Share your techniques,
make new friends and learn
something new. Students must bring a
basic tool kit and a towel.

Creative Sculpture
Delve into the art of sculpting with
clay, exploring techniques like coil,
slab, pinch, and sculpture to create
unique pieces. Whether a beginner or
experienced, the tactile experience
offers
both meditation
and
excitement. Students will learn various
techniques including coil, slab, pinch,
and sculpture while incorporating
their own creativity into projects. Our
classes encourage experimentation,
collaboration, and artistic growth,
culminating in a collection of clay
creations and a deeper understanding
of sculpting.

Youth Pottery Classes
We provide a variety of pottery
classes for children, focusing on both
wheel and hand building techniques.
Our classes cover hand-building, pinch
pot, and coil methods using clay slabs.
Students will master clay molding and
manipulation,
practice
applying
glazes, become familiar with basic
ceramic terms, and gain insight into
firing techniques.

towards beginners, all the way through
advanced wheel throwers! Students
learn wheel basics & glaze techniques.

POTTERY ON THE WHEEL
Wheel Throwing and
Pottery On The Wheel
Wheel throwing involves shaping clay
on a potter's wheel to create various
forms such as ceramic mugs, bowls,
and plates. The potter molds the wet
clay on the wheel, allows it to dry
slightly to a leather-hard stage, and
then refines and trims the piece.
Additionally, decorative elements like
lines, textures, and colors can be
incorporated using carving, slip, and
underglaze techniques before firing.
