U.S. News & World Report, American Heart Association and Becker's Hospital Review
among those giving Dartmouth Health the highest recognition for exceptional care
Dartmouth Health hospitals receive
highest rating for staff responsiveness
In late July, four Dartmouth Health members
were included on a list of the best hospitals for staff
responsiveness in each state, receiving a Becker's
Hospital Review rating of five stars based on publicly
reported data. Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital,
Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center, New
London Hospital and Southwestern Vermont
Medical Center all were given the highest rating by
patients for staff responsiveness.

APD and Cheshire also recognized
as high performing

has once again been
recognized by U.S. News &
World Report as New
Hampshire's Best
Hospital in the 202324
U.S. News Best
Hospitals rankings.
In addition to the
overall No. 1 hospital
designation, DHMC has been recognized as " high
performing " in 1 adult specialty, cancer, and 15
common adult procedures and conditions, including
back surgery and heart bypass surgery.
Other Dartmouth Health member organizations
were recognized in several areas. Alice Peck Day
Memorial Hospital was recognized by U.S. News as high
performing in hip replacement, and Cheshire Medical
Center was recognized as high performing in chronic
obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and pneumonia
care.
To compile its annual Best Hospitals list, U.S. News
& World Report evaluates hospital performance in 15
adult specialties, 10 pediatric specialties and 20 surgical
procedures and medical conditions in more than 5,000
medical centers nationwide.
The Emergency Department at Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital has been
recognized under the Always Ready for Children program offered by New
Hampshire EMS for Children. Members of the APD ED team pose with their award.
According to the Pediatric
Readiness Project, 80% of children
receive emergency care in general
emergency departments designed
to treat adults, not pediatric
emergency departments. The
Emergency Department at Alice
Peck Day Memorial Hospital (APD),
a member of Dartmouth Health, has
been recognized under the Always
Ready for Children program
offered by New Hampshire EMS for
Children, a program of Dartmouth
Health dedicated to improving
emergency care for children.
The program collaborates with
families, EMS agencies, hospitals,
the Bureau of EMS and community
organizations across the Northeast.
The program starts with an
assessment by New Hampshire
EMS for Children and provides
a tool kit to address identified
gaps. APD's Pediatric Emergency
Care Coordinator, Justin L. Harris,
BSN, RN, a nurse manager and
clinical educator, collects data,
monitors performance and ensures
adherence to standards.
