The little things
My mother-in-law returned home after 24
days at DHMC. She asked that I pass along her
appreciation to you regarding Dave Bouchier,
the Environmental Services team member in
Hematology Oncology. She had many people
going in and out at all times during her stay. One
person that stood out was Dave. He genuinely
took an interest in positive conversations with
her, learning about her and sharing a bit about
himself when he would stop in to clean. Your
world gets a lot smaller when you're in a patient
room for 24 days. You notice the little things and
appreciate them more. Please pass along our
thanks to Dave and the rest of your team for
keeping her room clean, free of infection, and just
as important, being an extended member of the
care team.
From the
heart
Letters and memos of appreciation come in many forms.
Here is a sample of notes of thanks acknowledging the
outstanding work of Dartmouth Health
employees.
Weekend warrior
I expect that most of the communications
you receive are complaints. I am writing with
the opposite: a note of thanks and appreciation.
I was referred to physical therapy for treatment.
It's a department that I have known well over
the years-a consequence of being a " weekend
warrior. " My care was assigned to (physical
therapist) Laura Zitnick at Dartmouth Hitchcock
Clinics Heater Road. On our first meeting, she
impressed me with her knowledge, compassion
and clear commitment to helping me recover.
She is skillful, very capable, but even more so
very personable. I am still under her care and
appreciate it greatly. I wanted to let you know so
that you can acknowledge her great care.
Passionate about pediatrics
Subject: The Second Annual Dartmouth Health
APP Conference: Pediatric Topics
Building teamwork
Subject: Fitness Friends Volunteer-KUDOS!
to Marcy Sanborn, Sarah Cram, Natalie
Bishop and Heidi Petrin
I just wanted to give a shout-out of thanks to
everyone who helped bring Fitness Friends
volunteer (Dartmouth College student) Maryanne
Barasa on board. What a sweet moment seeing
folks light up when they learned that there was
a volunteer there just to help them with better
movement at the direction of Therapy and
Mobility. Seeing Maryanne's broad smile when
she saw how valued she was going to be was
priceless. This is how we build a workforce that
loves what they do. Well done.
Dear Kate Richards, Carly Ogden, Filomena Kersey,
Wilma Hyde and Brittany Bullock:
Thank you for giving such an excellent talk on NICU graduates:
News You Can Use at the Pediatric conference. Your expertise was
inspirational, and passion for what you do is very apparent. Please
consider submitting how you exemplify seamless teamwork for
publication and/or presenting at a national conference. I am in awe of
the work that you all do. Thank you for what you give to these most
vulnerable patients, their families and your colleagues every day!
Grateful mother
My daughter was a patient (for four days). I cannot speak more
highly about your staff, the housekeepers, cafeteria workers, security.
Even more so, the nursing staff was exceptional. The PACU nurse was
also amazing. They were truly incredible. The medical care team was
also amazing. One would think people would get lost in a big facility,
but that was not the case. I felt right at home, despite my concern
about my daughter. You have an amazing facility, with amazing staff.
Clear progress
Just a note to congratulate you on the (LSVT) LOUD
(speech therapy) program offered by Dartmouth Health. I
wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed it and the benefits
I got from it. The interactions with both (speech-language
pathologist) Anne O'Donnell and (speech-language
pathology clinical fellow) Alexandra K. Meredith-Le Roux
were outstanding. In the beginning, I was doubtful that I
would complete the program. But as time passed, I enjoyed
it more, and I believe I got a lot out of the program. Just ask
my wife. I now talk louder and more distinctly, and people
understand me a lot better. My instructors' interest in my
progress was especially helpful. Keep up the good work.
