DHMC NURSE SPECIALIST Carol Townsend SINGS THE NATIONAL ANTHEM AT Fenway Park Carol Townsend, MSN, RN, DHMC informatics nurse specialist, received the most votes in a contest hosted by Nurse.org and was chosen to sing the national anthem on the field during a Red Sox game on May 16. In front of thousands of fans, and with her image supersized on the electronic scoreboard, Carol sang " The Star Spangled Banner " as part of the opening ceremonies for Red Sox Nurse Appreciation Night celebrated nurses The 7th annual Red Sox Nurse Red Sox Nurse Appreciation Night at Fenway Park in Boston. Watch a video of Carol's performance here. Manchester, NH-based WMUR-TV did a story about Carol prior to the game. She says she has been singing since she was a child and is honored that her fellow nurses were recognized. You can watch her interview here. Appreciation Night game featured the Tampa Bay Rays against the Red Sox. Pre-game activities included honoring 10 local nurses, with one special nurse throwing out the first pitch.
