HIGH
Shout-outs for a job well done
Melissa Dalton
Philanthropy has reached a new
level at Alice Peck Day Memorial
Hospital (APD), thanks to the hard
work and dedication of Melissa Dalton,
director of development. Not only has
APD realized a substantial gift in 2024,
Melissa implemented a new giving
philosophy where donors can designate
their gifts and see how their donation
improves patient care. She's also instituted new and better ways of
communicating with our community, including in-person events, an
e-newsletter and the printed APD Insider quarterly newsletter.
Todd Bruso
This month's High Five goes to
Todd Bruso in Southwestern
Vermont Medical Center
Engineering for quickly solving a
problem in the hospital's Medical
Office Building that could have led to
closures. Todd helped find a solution
for a " plumbing crisis, " according
to Ron Zimmerman, director of
Engineering: " Had we not had Todd's plumbing mastery and sense of
'stick-to-it-iveness,' we would have been forced to close at least four
exam rooms and the staff break space indefinitely. " Thank you, Todd!
Carmen Carey
Carmen Carey, lead teacher
for the New London Hospital
ABC's Childcare Center, just completed a
12-week intensive course from Playmaker
University, which was developed by
the company Life Is Good. This course
provides early educators with additional
knowledge, tools and ongoing support
that is needed to build healing, lifechanging
relationships. " The biggest
takeaway from the program, " Carmen
says, " is to put optimism into practice,
with the children and my co-workers, and
life in general. It teaches you the importance of positive relationships and
joy-filled environments that children need to heal, learn and thrive in. "
Bethany Yaeger
Bethany Yaeger, clinical
operations administrative
assistant at Visiting Nurse and
Hospice for Vermont and New
Hampshire, is an invaluable
member of our clinical leadership
team. She works tirelessly to
ensure patients and staff have
the supplies they need, assisting
with orientation and trainings,
managing e-learning and CPR
compliance, and she was the champion for our hands-on skills
days-gathering supplies, setting up the rooms, ensuring everyone
had completed their mandatory requirements and putting things
away. Bethany gets things done! One never needs to question her
intent or thoroughness. Her dependability and commitment to her
work shine through in all that she does. A people person, Bethany
goes out of her way to be helpful to others. Her kindness draws you
in and invariably leaves you with a smile on your face.
