ASET Foundation Award(s)-winning NAIT student
exemplifies ASET's bright future

ABIGAIL AIKORIEGIE has been fascinated with electronics
technology since childhood. In high school, she created
a portable phone charger, portable radio and various
other devices.
It's natural then that she would end up taking electronics
engineering technology at NAIT. Currently in her fourth semester,
she's retained a 4.0 grade point average the whole
way through. She aims to finish her last semester with the
same score.
With those marks and that uncanny
technological prowess, Abigail earned
two scholarship awards from the ASET
Foundation. For her perseverance and
consistently exceptional grades, she
received the Ernest Carter Memorial
Scholarship, and the Women in
Technology Scholarship.
The Ernest Carter award is for students enrolled in engineering
drafting and design programs at NAIT, Lethbridge
College or SAIT. The Women in Technology award, meanwhile,
is for female students in the final year of a two-year
science or engineering technology program.
On learning she'd won the awards, Abigail was surprised, although
it wasn't the first time she's been recognized for her
commitment and talent. Despite finishing high school during
a pandemic, Abigail still managed to acquire a math, engineering
and science engineering technology award, and a
pre-engineering award from the Edmonton Public School
Division. These awards were reflected by marks of honours
with distinction all through junior high and high school.
Her rack of accolades highlights a natural aptitude for science
and technology, paralleled by an unflappable work
ethic. " I accidentally ended up with a 4.0 in every class, " she
laughs, recalling her first semester at NAIT. From that she
decided to keep those marks pinned at the top.
