Like some of you, ASET employees continue working from
home as we deal with the disruption and uncertainty caused
by COVID-19. What strikes me is how this has brought out the
best in the majority of people. It makes me hopeful that we
will move forward together stronger and more determined
than ever. For now, allow me to describe some of the latest
accomplishments of the Registration Department over the
past few months.
First, let me officially welcome our newest staff members
to the team:
*	 Marcela Garcia, Admissions and Examinations
Coordinator, coordinates exam registrations,
processes T.T. applications, completes transfers and
has full management of the registration inbox.
*	 Hannah Peterson, Registration Services Coordinator,
administers the C.E.T. application process and
coordinated the P.Tech. stamp redesign project.
*	 Tracy Taylor, Regulatory Compliance Coordinator,
supports the CPD Program, processes membership
status change requests and Permit to Practice
applications, administers title misuse complaints and
provides support to our boards.
We've focused our efforts in 2020 on a variety of areas.
One of these areas is more comprehensive recognition
of the qualifications of potential certified technology
professionals. Work continues on expanding the overall
Certification Exam Program, as we seek to offer as many
discipline-specific options as possible. For those of you
unfamiliar with this initiative, this kind of testing is required
for all C.E.T. applicants who graduated from post-secondary
programs not accredited through Technology Accreditation
Canada. The process is designed to verify that individuals
have a level of educational knowledge equivalent to that
of graduates of two-year Alberta technology diploma
programs. The department has also created additional
items for the Professional Practice Exam so that it maintains
its psychometric integrity and relevance.

The registration team additionally works to provide
innovative support for applicants throughout the application
process, and updated online improvements. We're at work
implementing the Application Advisor Program, which we
anticipate will smooth some of the rough patches that were
frustrating some C.E.T. and C.Tech. applicants. We've also
enhanced the T.T. application dashboard, created a more
user-friendly CPD logbook and automated many of our
application and regulatory processes.
Finally, we engaged in our annual evaluation of stamping and
permit-to-practice guidelines. This ensures our practices
remain current and compliant with industry standards. Oh,
and we created a new, dare I say, better, P.Tech. stamp,
much to the delight of our 900+ professional technologists.
That's the year so far for Registration Services. Stay safe
