Of those great people making up Fluor's workforce at their
Calgary office, technology professionals play a vital role.
" The technology professionals are integrated essentially
with our engineering team, " Macleod says.
" They're integral to everything we do; built into the processes,
and we need them for execution. We wouldn't be able to
do it without them, " she says.
" They take everything on from on-the-floor work to, in some
cases, leading our disciplines; they're leaders of some of
our projects, and even some of our departments. "
That value is only heightened with
the addition of an ASET certification.
" Right now we're in a growth mode,
and we're looking at hiring people, and
that's one thing that we look for when
we're hiring, because you understand
that it comes with a consistency of
professionalism and quality, and an
understanding of what they need to
do, " Macleod explains.
" From within the organization, I think it's important that
we're able to have someone who's ASET certified take on
that elevated responsibility and leadership piece, because
we know they have that expertise and training. This means
those employees can take responsibility for their work to
whatever extent they need to, " she says.
Part of Fluor's acknowledgement of the value of ASET certification
is an ongoing initiative which encourages certification
for team members who might qualify. The aim of the initiative
is to reflect such members' qualifications, so they can
be recognized for the knowledge and skills they possess.
Technologist certification can also help Fluor employees to
take on more responsibility within the company.
Ultimately, Fluor's commitment to supporting its people and
helping them reach their best selves is reflected in the results
of the company's projects around the world.
" Globally, there's a commitment to delivering on our commitments,
on time and with detailed execution, " Macleod
says.
" The company's core values of safety, integrity, teamwork,
and excellence go hand in hand with a backbone of diversity
and respect. It is built into everything that we do, " she says.
