NEW’N’NOTED Momenturm builds for 4-H fundraiser Madison’s Expo beckons this fall Program distributed $7,000 last year. Merial Canada is continuing its BoxBack fundraising program in conjunction with the Canadian 4-H Council. Merial will donate $10 to local 4-H clubs for each box label of eligible Ivomec Pour-On or Eprinex Pour-On returned through the program. Club members are encouraged to cut out a specified section of the cardboard packaging (after the contents have been used) and submit it to Merial. The program runs until Feb. 28, 2010 and is being promoted in Merial advertising, and in conjunction with the National 4-H Council and provincial 4-H offices. Through the years, Merial has donated $400,000 in the form of Ivomec scholarships to provide important recognition to deserving students across the country. In 2007, Merial revised its support initiatives to ensure it was benefiting the maximum number of 4-H members. “The BoxBack Program is a perfect fit, and a great complement to our jug recycling program. The great response in year two, with nearly $7,000 distributed to local clubs across the country, encouraged us to build on the momentum this year," says Isabelle TremblaySummers, Merial product manager. There will be two seminars each day. Forage experts from the U.S. Dairy Forage Research Center, University of Wisconsin and other research centers will present cutting-edge information on the Dairy Forage Tool Box Seminar Stage. The free daily seminars feature a question-and-answer period. Virtual Farm Tours of dairy operations from California, Iowa, Wisconsin and Argentina will focus on a variety of management topics. These free tours will be presented daily. Producers and managers will present half-hour pictorial views of their operations, including general information and highlights of exceptional management practices. See more than 2,500 head of North America’s finest dairy cattle compete for honours in seven breed shows. Last year, more than 68,000 people from 84 countries attended. A trade show with 725 exhibitors from more than two dozen countries will featue a full spectrum of dairy-focused technology, products and services totalling 1,600 exhibits.
