FCC offers new loans for energy technology
Canadian agriculture producers and agribusiness operators have a new financing option for renewable energy sources in their businesses. The Farm Credit Canada (FCC) energy loan is designed to help producers and agribusiness owners produce their own renewable energy. Loans are available for purchasing and installing on-farm energy sources like biogas, geo-thermal, wind or solar power. The loan offers a variable or fixed interest rate. This rate is valid for a term up to five years, with monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual payments available. “There are sources of energy all around Canadian farmyards and we’re helping producers invest in the technologies needed to tap those opportunities,” says Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz. “This initiative is good for the environment and it’s good for the bottom line on farms across Canada.” “We’re definitely seeing an increase in the number of people across the country who are interested in renewable energy sources to reduce costs and demand on the energy grid,” says Greg Stewart, FCC president and chief executive officer. Dortmans expands
Dortmans Bros. Barn Equipment has expanded into the Woodstock and Dunnville areas of Ontario with the acquisition of Tilstra Farm Equipment. To ensure customer service is maintained, the service and installation staff of Tilstra have agreed to team up with the already established Dortmans dairy team. This development means Dortmans offers a complete line of in-barn products and services. At present, Dortmans is using facilities and phone numbers of Tilstra Dairy Equipment Ltd., but in future will establish new locations in the Woodstock and Dunnville areas. assey Ferguson’s HD Series 2600 utility tractors are available in lowprofile versions for livestock operations and other locations where overhead clearance, size and versatility are key. Included are four models from 74 to 97 gross engine horsepower (62 to 83-PTO-hp) in two- or four-wheel-drive versions with independent PTO. In addition, the new series provides the highest weight-to-horsepower ratio in class for maneuverability and power. All major HD Series components are made of steel to deliver durability and performance. Powered by the Perkins 1104-44T four-cylinder turbo-charged diesel engine, the HD Series delivers fuel efficiency, quick starting, excellent torque backup and raw lugging power, plus Tier III emissions compliance. The reliable engines are matched with the choice of two transmissions. The SynchroShuttle 8x8 is great for loader work, offering on-the-roll shifting that improves cycle times. The synchronized 12x4 transmission offers ideal speed selections for hay making, mowing or tillage, and a straight, in-line shift pattern from first to reverse. Heavy duty castings, axles, gears, bearings and final drive components add stability and rugged performance. An outboard planetary final drive provides speed reduction at the tire and wheel, reducing the torque loads in the drive train. The rear-axle differential can lock back tires in tandem for added traction to move through mud or soft ground. Shift levers are located to the side and out of the way, and controls are located at a natural reach. Cabs offer picture-window visibility. Other new features include improved hydraulic controls, a sleek dashboard design and a hand-operated parking brake. The platform is flat and features a new mat with an extra layer of shock absorption to help minimize vibration, dampen noise and significantly reduce operator fatigue.
