et for release in October, Spotlight on nutrition issues’ fall edition, DFC’s newsletter for health professionals, provides a current review of protein and the role it plays in optimal health. Protein is featured in many diets, and for good reason. Emerging research suggests adequate protein intake can reduce heart disease and diabetes risk, and sarcopenia—muscle mass loss in the elderly. Canadians could double their current protein intake and still fall within the recommended range for this important nutrient. Dairy proteins are important for managing high blood pressure,
