P
lanning is our lifeblood. How often have we heard that if you fail to plan, you plan to fail? Planning and communication also are critical to an organization such as Dairy Farmers of Ontario. DFO has always placed stakeholder communications high on its priority list, whether it is dealing with internal staff or external customers. To further increase and strengthen its relationship with grassroots producers, DFO is including a communication survey in this month’s issue of The Milk Producer. Your responses will help DFO and your board plan future communication initiatives. How do you want to communicate to us? How often do you want to hear from us? How would you like to receive information from DFO? These are just some of the questions DFO staff is asking you to consider. Effective communication is a two-way process. Please take the time to make your opinion known. By sending back the survey, you’ll be helping DFO enhance the services it provides. Another issue I’d like to address is the Ontario Food Bank Donation program. A form and prepaid envelope was mailed with the magazine’s May issue. Please give it more consideration. This is another way we can give back to our greater community. Our processing partners donate the processing costs and transporters donate the costs to truck the milk to the plants. Let’s all make this a priority to do a little more for people less fortunate than ourselves. Have a safe and prosperous summer.

omme on le dit souvent, échouer en planification, c’est planifier l’échec. La planification et la communication sont tout aussi critiques pour une organisation comme le Dairy Farmers of Ontario. Le DFO a toujours mis en priorité les communications avec les intervenants, qu’il s’agisse du personnel ou des clients. Pour améliorer et renforcer ses relations avec les producteurs, le DFO inclut un sondage de communication dans le présent numéro de la revue The Milk Producer. Vos réponses aideront le DFO et votre conseil à planifier les prochaines initiatives de communication. Comment voulez-vous communiquer avec nous ? Comment aimeriez-vous recevoir l’information du DFO ? À quelle fréquence ? Quelques-unes à peine des questions que le personnel du DFO vous demande de considérer. Une communication efficace se joue à deux. Prenez le temps de nous faire part de votre opinion. En nous retournant le sondage, vous aiderez le DFO à améliorer les services qu’il vous fournit. J’aimerais aussi toucher le programme de Don aux banques d’alimentation de l’Ontario. Un formulaire et une enveloppe affranchie accompagnaient le numéro de mai. Veillez y donner plus de considération. C’est une autre façon de redonner à la communauté. Nos partenaires de la transformation font don de leurs coûts de transformation et les transporteurs des coûts du transport. Fixons-nous tous la priorité de faire un peu plus pour les gens moins fortunés que nous. Que votre été soit sécuritaire et prospère.
