ProFESSIonAl EdGE CLOSING ThE GAP OSPE Employer Compensation Survey shows narrowing gap between male and female engineers By Chrisy Wilson, Mercer (Canada) Limited Conducted annually for OSPE by Mercer (Canada) Limited, the latest OSPE Employer Compensation Survey compiled compensation data for more than 15,000 engineers across six engineering responsibility levels and 14 job types from 218 organizations in both the private and public sectors. The Survey reflects data for engineers working in organizations of all sizes, across a broad array of industries, located in 17 metropolitan areas in Ontario. MInIMAl PAy dIFFErEntIAtIon by GEndEr Results of the OSPE Employer Compensation Survey indicate that, although most engineering graduates are male, significant pay differences do not occur until the more senior engineering levels, which have a far lower proportion of females. Approximately 25 per cent of Level A and B engineers are female, but this drops to less than 10 per cent for Level E and F engineers, as shown in Figure 1.
